Pass the Parrot lets you send short voice messages to friends, carried by a 3D parrot you dress yourself. This page says exactly what we keep, why, and for how long. The short version: we keep only what the app needs to work, we never sell it, and there are no ads or trackers.

What we collect

• Your parrot's profile: the handle you pick, your parrot's name, its colours, prop and perch. Friends see these.
• Your voice messages: the recordings you send, and when you sent them. Only you and the friend you sent one to can play it.
• Messages without sound: a move (like a hug) you send, the mood you picked, and when.
• Your friends: who you are friends with, requests you sent or received, and people you blocked.
• Seeds and items: your Seeds balance, what you earned and spent it on, and the items you own.
• Reports: if you report someone, what you reported and why.
• A sign-in key: a random key stored in your phone's Keychain. We keep only a one-way fingerprint of it.
• Apple ID link (optional): if you choose to back up your parrot with Sign in with Apple, Apple's anonymous user id for this app. We never receive your name or email.
• Notification address: if you allow notifications, your phone's push address, so we can tell you when a parrot lands.

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, photos, or advertising identifiers. We do not use analytics or advertising SDKs.

Why

Only to run the app: to deliver your messages to your friends, show your parrot, keep your Seeds and items, keep people safe (blocking and reports), and send the notifications you asked for.

Who else handles it

• Cloudflare runs our servers and stores the data and voice clips (in the United States).
• Apple delivers notifications, confirms Sign in with Apple if you use it, and handles any App Store payment. We never see your card.
• Expo relays notifications to Apple's notification service.

We never sell or share your data for advertising. We would only disclose it if the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

• Voice clips are deleted 90 days after they are sent. The message stays in the chat marked as expired.
• Everything else is kept while you have an account.
• When you delete your account, we delete it straight away: your profile, messages and clips (sent and received), friends, Seeds, items and notification address. Reports you made are deleted too. A report someone else made about you is kept for up to one year so we can act on repeat abuse, then deleted.

Your choices and rights

• Delete your account: in the app, My Parrot → Settings → Delete my account. It cannot be undone. If you no longer have the app, see how to delete your account.
• Get a copy of your data: My Parrot → Settings → Download my data.
• Block anyone from a chat, and unblock them in Settings.
• Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you have rights to access, correct, delete and port your data, and to complain to a regulator. Write to us to use any of them.

Children

Pass the Parrot is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 is using it, tell us and we will delete the account.

Security

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Voice clips live at long random addresses that only the two people in a chat learn.
